9-11 Victims Compensation Fund This is where our government opened up the Treasury and gave family members of those who lost their lives that day lots of money. In return, these families were basically told to shut up about anything else concerning 9-11.

Have you noticed anything strange yet? Of the passengers and crew of Flight 11, 77, 175 & 93, only 22%, 22%, 28%, 13% respectively are in the SSDI. Of the 266 people that we were told died on these jets, only 11 relatives applied for compensation. Can you believe that not a single relative from Flight 93 applied for compensation? I can't. Were all the relatives of the victims so rich that they weren't eligible to receive compensation? No, that's not it. (The minimum federal award was $250,000, and the average pay-out was about $1.8 million. The recipients only had to make agreement: they couldn’t sue the airlines.) You should also know that most lawyers told their clients to take the money and run (which is what most lawyers would do - take the sure money). Ellen Mariani clearly elaborated on this point during her appearance on the radio show mentioned above.

I was reading an interesting post on Reddit about the influence Unions are starting to have over Occupy Wall Street. Someone made a good point:

OWS won't succeed without help from somewhere.

I got curious as to who was behind the original call to protest. Turns out there are some antithetical bedfellows:

George Soros, Ben Bernanke and at least one Buffett family member.

I know the article tries to conradict this notion but the analogy is a straw man. Soros giving to Tides and Tides giving to Adbusters is not like the author investing with CitiGroup and citigroup contributing to Romney. Tides Center is a cover for The Transnational Resource and Action Center who are:

"An anti-capitalist organization participating in numerous anti-corporate attacks. Demands complete disclosure by for-profit corporations while hiding as a non-disclosure project in the non-profit Tides Center, where CorpWatch retains total secrecy about its revenue, expenditures, projects and funding sources. What does it all mean? It means "We're the global 0.001% and we despise competition. You, the 99.999% will do/buy whatever we decide and help us accomplish our goals."

I don't know what most people in the US think about OWS. I wonder how much OWS itself knows. Answers to questions like "Will this really yield any change? Of what sort? Who facilitates the change? Are we just getting the ball rolling for government to step in a do things? Are we going to go home eventually and accomplish things by ourselves?"

The plan of action needs to look beyond the spectacle in the streets, hacking at the outward expression of corporatism, and work instead on the roots. In short, this means creating parallel institutions.

You want education for all? You can compile a free curriculum on your favorite subjects based on Youtube, Wikipedia Series and Nexus articles (via scribd).
You want sound money and sustainable sources of food? Buy from local companies/farms who bank at local banks and credit unions. Open up an account at one yourself and ask who their merchant customers are. See if they'd be interested in sponsoring a new account drive to help people switch from mega-banks.
You want reformation of federal laws regarding banks / herb prohibition / HC / immigration / government secrecy? Tough. These are federal issues because the monopolists like it that way. It's what allowed them to buy the government and make the rules in the first place. The only alternative is a do-it-yourself society that no longer gives a portion of its wages to manage the upkeep of its chains.

Stay hungry, OWS, & stay foolish too.

Trillions of dollars in fraudulent activity by the big banks on Wall Street caused our current economic crisis. Paid off politicians from both parties, along with secret deals made by the Federal Reserve, gave trillions of taxpayer dollars and subsidies to the very people who caused our crisis. After taking our tax dollars, they had the audacity to give themselves all-time recording-breaking bonuses and consolidate wealth in unprecedented fashion within the economic top 0.01% of the population.

While a record number of Americans are currently living in poverty and on food stamps; while millions of American families have been foreclosed upon; while health care, food and gas costs are skyrocketing; while over 200 million Americans are living paycheck to paycheck struggling to make ends meet, the super-wealthy have never had it better. We now have the most severe inequality of wealth in American history. The depravity of the Robber Barons has been outdone.

As their current policies prove, economic central planners have become so arrogant and tyrannical in their shortsighted greed. They think we are an ignorant and apathetic population that they can continue to exploit without fear of rebellion.

We are finally declaring that we have had enough. We will not remain passive while global banking interests destroy our future. We know the systemic causes of our current crisis and we are going to strike at the root.

On this Flag Day, June 14th, Operation Empire State Rebellion (#OpESR) will launch. #OpESR is a decentralized non-violent resistance movement to end the system of political bribery (campaign finance and lobbying) and break up the big banks centered at the Federal Reserve.

To coincide with the launch of this movement, people have begun organizing acts of resistance throughout the US. We are calling upon you to take an action of your own. Whether it’s taking part in a local public protest, withdrawing your money from one of the big six banks, starting a community group or passing out fliers. Anything you can do to rebel against the system of economic tyranny in a non-violent manner is welcome.

As a first step, please join the actions against the banks in one of the cities shown here, or use the ‘schedule an action’ tool to create your own.

By way of background, I wrote in 2009:

The giant banks are treating the American Citizen like we work for them, are holding the economy hostage, and are taking our deposits and using them to speculate in casino style gambling.

They've bought and paid for Congress and the White House. See this, this and this.

Will Americans exercise our power - see this and this - or become serfs to a permanent banking royalty?

An economist says the healthcare bill "is just another bailout of the financial system", and lawyers say that it is unconstitutional.

Will we defeat this giveaway to the insurance giants, or become permanent slaves to mandatory insurance requirements?

Top scientists, economists and environmentalists all say that cap and trade is a scam which won't significantly reduce C02 emissions, and will only help in making the financial players who crashed the economy even more wealthy.

Will we defeat this worthless scam, or allow the failed banks like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Citigroup - who have already taken many billions of taxpayer dollars - to make a fortune off of this con game at our expense?
Will Americans reclaim our nation in 2010 from the thugs and con artists, or put our heads down and stay subservient while the little we have left in the way of money, resources and dignity is stolen by the giant banks, insurance companies and carbon trading players?

But there may be a third way.

As I wrote a year ago:

As MSNBC news correspondent Jonathan Capehart tells Dylan Ratigan, the main problem is that people aren't making enough noise. Capehart says that the people not only have to "burn up the phone lines to Congress", but also to hit the streets and protest in D.C.

Even though most politicians are totally corrupt, if many millions of Americans poured into the streets of D.C., a critical mass would be reached, and the politicians would start changing things in a hurry.

As [liberal] PhD economist Dean Baker points out:

The elites hate to acknowledge it, but when large numbers of ordinary people are moved to action, it changes the narrow political world where the elites call the shots. Inside accounts reveal the extent to which Johnson and Nixon’s conduct of the Vietnam War was constrained by the huge anti-war movement. It was the civil rights movement, not compelling arguments, that convinced members of Congress to end legal racial discrimination. More recently, the townhall meetings, dominated by people opposed to health care reform, have been a serious roadblock for those pushing reform….

A big turnout ... can make a real difference.

Baker is right about Vietnam.

Specifically - according to Daniel Ellsberg and many others - Richard Nixon actually planned on dropping a nuclear bomb on Vietnam Nixon also said he didn't care what the American people thought. He said that -- no matter what the public did or said -- he was going to escalate the war in Vietnam.

However, a well-known biographer says that Nixon backed off when hundreds of thousands of people turned out in Washington, D.C. to protest an escalation of the war.

Similarly, no matter how completely sold-out to the Wall Street giants D.C. politicians are, they would start paying attention to their real employers - the American people - if we make enough noise.

If 3 million Americans all peacefully surrounded the White House and Capitol Hill, holding signs saying "We're Not Leaving Until the Too Big to Fails which Caused the Economic Crisis are Reined In", things would change pretty fast.

3 million might sound like a lot of people. But many millions of people read popular alternative financial and economic news sites. You are probably one of millions of people who will read this essay (by the time it is published by some of the larger sites).

In other words, it's not even a question of convincing other people to go. We - those who read alternative financial websites - could do it ourselves.

If millions of us don't go protest in D.C., it's because we are choosing not to sacrifice a tiny bit in order to change things.

The bad guys are only winning because we - the American people - aren't making enough noise.

Lay peaceful siege, MLK-style.

Denninger wrote last week:

Everyone wants a way to save them - an investment strategy, a place to hide their assets, etc.

Let me give you the answer folks, and you're not going to like it:

There is only one way, and that is to save everyone. That is, to force this crap to stop - by whatever means are necessary - and possible.

Yeah, that's a strong statement. It's also true.

Let's presume that we don't do this... At some point one of two things happens: Either the world blows the dollar off and it literally collapses in value by half in the space of a few days, or we get into a printing spiral that debases the currency so fast that prices change between the time you go to work and get home. But your wages won't go up because of exporting our labor to China, so you will slowly - or not-so-slowly - be unable to buy necessities - food and energy, along with medical care.

Either way the end point is the same. The government becomes unable to issue Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid checks, along with paying people like the Military. At the same time you're literally being starved to death. In desperation the government will then attempt to seize everything through some form - whether it be through massive fines and forfeiture, or whether it is through simple tax increases. That of course will simply make it worse.

You can try to hide in something like Gold, but it won't do you a bit of good. The government is not that dumb. They already have in the law provisions requiring reporting of transactions over $600. They'll go to a fully-electronic currency (we're damn close to being there now) and force clearing of all transactions through The Fed. This will effectively create a 100% reportable - and taxable - data stream.

If you try to barter around it, and you will, they'll fix that too. Treasury will simply expand the already existing IRS program for "rats." Your neighbor and everyone else will be "enticed" with a 20% reward for all "off-grid" transactions that they report. And civil forfeiture will be used to literally steal everything you own when - not if - you get caught.

Forget it folks, unless you're planning on going Rambo. And if you're going to do that, you may as well get started now. You'll go to prison or die - but over time people dying for what they believe is nothing new. We call them terrorists when they lose - and freedom fighters when they win. In 1776 a bunch of men decided they had enough, and they pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honors. They, in aggregate, won and thus are "freedom fighters" - but some of them also died.

All the noise I hear - all words and bluster behind keyboards but no gunshots - tell me that nobody's prepared to do that. So quit babbling about it. All that does is get you on the No-Fly list and a visit from the guys in the black (and armored) Escalades. Don't bother with "sound and fury" nonsense. You're not only wasting your breath you'll get arrested - for nothing.

No, the only solution is for the people to get ****ed off enough to rise up peacefully but in a form and fashion that makes clear that we're not talking, we're demanding. We're putting in front of Congress and other officials positions that are not "polite requests" - they're instructions, as all citizens are entitled to put forward to their elected officials.

The people en-masse must come to the conclusion that this will not be allowed to stand.

Enforcement of that mandate does not require unlawful acts. There may be some people who decide to embark on them, but that's not the message that is being sent or intended.

No, instead the message to send is that we have choices that are lawful and peaceful, and we will exercise them in full.

* We will not do business with banksters who caused this or any merchant who does.

* We will not work overtime or even work hard; we will instead engage in consumer withdrawal, making as little as possible and drawing as much from the government as we can. That is, we will try to suck the government teat dry and lawfully minimize what we give both to big corporations and government.

* We will NOT cooperate with law enforcement. "You have the right to remain silent" is an absolute. This already takes place in parts of America - go try to investigate a crime in some gang-ridden place. Nobody will talk. Well, we can make that the rule everywhere - we can make the decision that the government is a bunch of gangsters, and we will not help them. Our eyes are closed when it comes to Government. All we will respond with is a polite "Have a nice day."

* We WILL picket, protest, and show up in front of banksters and politicians homes - not just offices. We have a right of free speech in The Constitution and we will use it. You don't have to listen, but the streets are PUBLIC PLACES. Peaceful protests - but lots of them, in your face, every single day. Public shaming is very effective. If you want to be in a public role - running a big publicly-traded bank or in a political office you're fair game to have signs waved in your face no matter where you are. Sure, they'll withdraw from the public - that's fine. Guess what? Barricading themselves inside a fort hurts them - and their families - more than it hurts us.

* We WILL intentionally ostracize both banksters and politicians. We will NOT cut their hair, sell them gas or groceries, or fix their air conditioners. A Bankster comes into church, they sit in an empty pew - nobody will get within 10' of them. Communion? Surely you jest. You want 20% of our income as a tax due to QE2? Fine. You can have it, but you're cutting your own hair, your own grass, and fixing your own damn car. We won't rent you an apartment, we won't quote your new windows or a new roof. In short, we're going to say "screw you", and every time we see you on the street, we're going to say it literally and loudly, just to make sure you understand. If that drives them into isolation, that's good, not bad. The Amish call it "shunning." It's part of your civil rights - you have a right to freedom of association, which includes the right not to associate. Guess what - being a bankster or politician isn't a protected class.

Look, at this point folks we have a former Chief Underwriter for Citibank who has testified under oath, in written form, that they were knowingly making bad loans to people. It wasn't an accident, and it wasn't carelessness - certainly not when they took these knowingly-bad loans and sold them to investors.

Yet people still [do business with the too big to fail banks who have committed massive fraud on America].

Its your dollar.

This nation is yours.

Its currency is yours.

And the actions of these people - Bernanke, Congress and the rest - ultimately only happen because you consent.

Are you going to continue to consent?

Once more, can I ask why? Do you like being screwed? Do you like high taxes - especially illegally-imposed back-door taxes used to fill in the holes in the fraudsters' balance sheets - the very holes that were created through the process that caused you, or your neighbor, to wind up with a bubble house and an un-affordable mortgage - one that was or will be foreclosed upon?

Let's assume you refuse to continue to consent.

If you choose to protest, to withdraw consent, and to engage in every lawful act available to you to stop it, when do you consider the job "done" and stop?

That's up to the politicians, but I'll put forward my standards for what would be "sufficient" for me to call my job done and stop writing Tickers.

The politicians can choose tomorrow to initiate forensic audits, mark everything to the market, force the bogus loans out into the open and, likely, take these firms into receivership. Detonate the bad debt, renegotiate the loans that are viable and have a lower loss in doing so rather than foreclosing, clear the balance sheets. Break the big banks up, bar the executives from any financial or publicly-traded firm for life. Refer anything crooked found to prosecutors with instructions to not only prosecute but seek forfeiture of all the ill-gotten gains. Impeach Bernanke and make clear, through changes to law if necessary, that "price stability" means just that - we all go to the store seeking mild deflation every day, and we insist that The Fed both stop trying to prevent it and leave those with savings able to earn a decent low-risk return by ceasing their tampering with interest rates and protection of scammers and frauds.

If and when they make that decision, we the people stop, because we will no longer have anything to be ****ed off about.

Until then, we don't - and if that means that the banksters and politicians wind up with hair down to their ankles, a leaky roof, a broken car and a hundred people waving signs in their faces every time they open their door?

So be it.

Will you step up, or are you going to continue to consent to being assaulted?

How can both liberals and conservatives be calling for the same thing - massive protests against the banking elites and their water-carriers in D.C.?

Because that's what all Americans want.

While the elites have tried to divide and conquer America into a false left-versus-right dichotomy, all Americans want the rule of law to be enforced.

All Americans want the big boys to be held accountable to the same laws that we have to follow.

All Americans want there to be a level playing field so that the little guy has a chance to compete fairly.

For liberals, remember Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi.

For conservatives, this is what Jesus would do: kick the moneychangers out of the temple.

You know it ... now act.

We can save America in a week if we follow the call ...

Postscript: George Orwell - author of 1984 - pointed out in the Tribune (October 19, 1945), the effectiveness of arms in preventing tyranny partly depends on whether the average citizen can afford the current weapon of choice possessed by the government:

He has conveniently been declared "incompetant to stand trial." Seems to me like they were afraid of what a thorough discovery in this case would reveal. I'm guessing Federal Judge John Roll was his true target and there is no way that needs to come to light.

How would it look if it was discovered that the Federal Government is actually on the side of the anti-immigration tea party? I'm referring to the ruling that a rancher cannot hold captives on his land, no matter their legal status. See, the Federal government loves this debate. People get passionate about it; without it, the tea party would have to get mad about real social issues like the drug war! They might get past institutional bigotry and begin to care about social issues that actually matter!

Plus, Sheriff Mack's only judicial ally was a big thorn in their gun-grabbing side.

I feel the commenter spoke for a lot of America - he sounded at once opinionated yet complacent. The elite is desperate to hang on to the status quo, and legions of television watchers are there to back them up in the fight to maintain it. So here's the exchange:

I deeply disagree with about half of those positions. I believe in public schools and I believe that we are the government. I think the EPA and the FDA should do better, but I believe they are generally good. As for civil rights, I do not believe that any businesses have the right to exclude or treat people differently because of their race, religion or gender. Paul's idea of civil rights and mine do not coincide.

Rand Paul is a libertarian, which means that he would be a parasite if he could. He is not interested in maintaining or improving society, but in being as un-involved in it as possible, not contributing to it, while partaking happily in its benefits.

If he had his way, the United States would be a loose association of states, each making its own rules, and "e pluribus unum" would have no real meaning. I find his views largely anti-democratic and unAmerican, although as I implied, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

It's all about representation for me, as it was the founding fathers.

On schools - students are legally obligated to go to zombie factories where they learn to become wards of the state. The money spent on bombs this year would more than pay for vouchers so at least working parents have some say in the matter.

NPR has been profiling some of the Republicans who are considering a presidential run in 2012, to find out what first sparked their interest in politics. Read more of those profiles.

Here's the main theme NPR listeners/readers - Nobody your age likes him:

Go to any Ron Paul event and it strikes you immediately: What's up with all the young people?

The 75-year-old Texas congressman packs halls on college campuses. His campaign volunteers often look too young to shave. And even at a recent New York City book signing, it's surprising how many teenagers and 20-somethings are lined up for an autograph, clutching Paul's new book, Liberty Defined.

Sixteen-year-old Rob Gray says the age of the crowd doesn't seem odd to him.

Here's some more young versus old false dichotomy:

It's "the old canard of the young being more open-minded than the old," he says.

Paul, the world's most unlikely teen idol, is running again for president.

I was surprised they didn't just repeat the trusty refrain "world's most unlikely candidate." It gets better. Here's how the next paragraph could read: "You're probably familiar with his latest bid for the presidency in 2008. He also ran twenty years prior, in '88." Instead:

He failed to reach the White House twice before: In 1988, running as a Libertarian, he got less than 1 percent of the vote; in 2008, he made a losing shot at the Republican nomination.

But don't expect the man to reinvent himself[!] Paul is nothing if not consistent. He still wants to shut down the Federal Reserve; still wants to slash the size of government and bring the troops home. Already in the first Republican primary debate, he restated his long-held belief that drugs should be legalized.

Stop reading now NPR listeners, you've heard enough.

It's a unique set of beliefs for a congressman, but that's why his fans love him.

As if common sense is an oddity. I'm just going to highlight some more backhanded rhetoric, goodnight.

At the New York City event, the young people keep packing into the bookstore. The line starts in the children's section, moves through self-help and recovery, past the memoirs and along the great ideas bookshelf.

When Paul arrives, he sits down in the World History section, and his bushy eyebrows go up in surprise.

Paul says it still amazes him when kids want to talk about the Federal Reserve.

"When I was in high school and college, at the age many of those young people are now, I didn't have much interest in politics at all," Paul says. "I was probably more interested in trying to get into medical school."

Looking back at his youth, you can see the spark that drove Paul is the same as the one that inspires his fans: a desire for a unified philosophy to make sense of the world.

But for Paul, the ideological search wouldn't come until he was in medical school in the 1950s at Duke University. He was looking for a hobby when he wasn't studying. He didn't want to golf, he says. But he loved to read.

Paul seemed especially taken by a book his mother gave him: Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak.

You can see how the book would resonate: It's about a young, idealistic doctor who wants nothing to do with politics until he is co-opted into the Russian Revolution.

"I was intrigued with this whole idea of Communism and the terrible conditions in Russia and the way Zhivago had to put up with this," Paul says.

It was all about the value of individual liberty. Soon Paul found an economic theory with the same message. He devoured books by the Austrian economists F.A. Hayek and Ludwig von Mises, writing about free-market capitalism.

"It was sort of like a game about how the monetary system worked," he says.

By then you could probably call Paul a libertarian. But he still shunned politics. He just wanted to be a doctor. He moved to Texas and delivered babies.

Still, Paul quietly lived his principles. He would treat any patient who came to him, but he wouldn't accept federal payments like Medicare and Medicaid. He didn't try to change the world — until the world changed on him.

"I remember that day very clearly: Aug. 15, 1971," Paul says. "It was a Sunday night when the announcement came."

President Nixon addressed the nation and said he was suspending the convertibility of the dollar into gold. The gold standard was over.

For an Austrian-economics buff like Paul, this was akin to declaring the end of the world. He had learned to hate the idea of paper money backed only by the promises of the government. He thought it would lead to massive inflation.

But even hearing Nixon didn't push Paul to run for office. The real spark came the day after the U.S. left the gold standard, when Paul realized that most of the world didn't seem to care.

"The stock market went up a record amount as a consequence of this disastrous announcement," Paul remembers. "And my interpretation was, my Lord, what's going on here? They are doing everything wrong, and everybody loves it."

So Paul ran for Congress in 1974 because, he says, laughing, "Who wanted to hear me talk about economics while practicing medicine?"

Paul lost but later won a seat from his coastal Texas district in a special election in 1976. In the following years, Paul would move in and out of Congress. He was elected 11 more times. But he never got the U.S. any closer to returning to the gold standard. He was always a lonely voice in Congress, and still is.

Paul rails against government spending — and the budget goes up. He argues against wars — and the troops keep fighting. He calls for the legalization of drugs — and nothing happens.

Even Paul jokes about his lousy track record at changing the world. But when he announced his third run for president, he said perhaps the world is finally coming around to his way of thinking.

It turns out that some young people were listening.

At the New York book signing, every 20-something remembers their Ron Paul spark. For most, it was discovering YouTube videos of Paul's two earlier runs for president.

It's not hard to see the attraction for a college student. They've just left home. They don't want anyone, not their parents, not the government, telling them what to do.

"I think it's just the concept of freedom, being able to choose what you want [anyone else's supporter would have gotten a complimentary " to do" here] with your life," says 26-year-old Kenneth Christiansen.

But there's something more that explains Paul's following. Every young person fears that getting older means a life full of compromises. A few at the book signing even mentioned that someday they may have to support a candidate with a better chance of winning, but not now.

Gray, the teenager, says Paul gives him hope — "that not everyone is a sellout; not everyone is controlled by special interests. There are people who still stick to their principles."

And in that idealistic way, you can say that Paul never grew up.

As far as I'm concerned this was all a major distraction. With so many concrete reasons to dislike Obama, this (very speculative) one was pretty laughable.

While it's true that this PDF is made to look like a scan of a page out of a book, it has several layers, but for fuck's sake, if the POTUS can't get a decent looking forgery who can?

I will waste no more time on this, as the truth is either known, or will never be known.

What I would like to point out is the pervasive nature of domestic intelligence, including the MKUltra files, pertaining to CIA behavioral training, (making a manchurian candidate, perhaps?) being carried out at the time Obama was born. Interesting that his Mom would later work for TWO known CIA front groups, the Ford Foundation and USAID, and that the airlift that brought students, including Barry Sr., from West Africa to the US was part of a CIA globalization plan to incorporate those countries.

As for plus Barry himself, he went to work for the Business International Corportation, another known front, as a 22 year old.

Is Nobel Peace Prize Winner Obama More Brutal than Bush?

Bush is correctly regarded as a lying, war-mongering, torturing tyrant.

Is Nobel peace prize winner Obama even worse?

Many governments, U.S. congressmen and other individuals have demanded that Obama return his Nobel peace prize for bombing Libya without congressional approval.

Bush got us into 2 wars to protect our strategic national interests in ... er ... broccoli. Obama just got us into a third war for the same reason. Bush's decision to invade Iraq was met with large protests. Similarly, most Americans didn't want Obama to get involved in Libya.

The Bush administration funded terrorist groups (and see confirming articles here and here). Obama is allegedly funding terrorist groups in Iran, and is now aiding the Libyan "rebels", even though there are allegations that 1,000 of them are Al Qaeda radicals (and there are some indications that their leader is a CIA asset).

Obama has increased the number of drone attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and elsewhere. Indeed, most people who have looked at the numbers believe that Obama has killed many more civilians with drone attacks than Bush did using the same method.

The Brookings Institution noted in 2009:

Critics correctly find many problems with this program, most of all the number of civilian casualties the strikes have incurred. Sourcing on civilian deaths is weak and the numbers are often exaggerated, but more than 600 civilians are likely to have died from the attacks. That number suggests that for every militant killed, 10 or so civilians also died.

And drone strikes are often based on scant evidence in the first place. And killing innocent civilians with drones is one of the main things which increases terrorism (and see this).

Former constitutional law teacher Glenn Greenwald says that - in his defense of state secrecy, illegal spying, preventative detention, harassment of whistleblowers and other issues of civil liberties - Obama is even worse than Bush.

Indeed, Obama has authorized "targeted assassinations" against U.S. citizens. Even Bush didn't openly do something so abhorrent to the rule of law.

Obama is trying to expand spying well beyond the Bush administration's programs. Indeed, the Obama administration is arguing that citizens should never be able to sue the government for illegal spying.

Obama's indefinite detention policy is an Orwellian nightmare, which will create more terrorists.

And as I noted in 2009, in a post entitled "Can Nobel Prize Winner Obama At LEAST Stop the Torture?":

You may assume that things have changed after President Obama was sworn in.
However, the Obama Department of Justice is trying to protect torture memo writer John Yoo. As constitutional law expert Jonathan Turley notes:
The president literally has gotten onto a plane this evening to go to Norway to accept the Nobel Prize, while his Justice Department is effectively gutting a major part of Nuremberg.
The Obama administration is arguing not only that they shouldn't be prosecuted, but it's now saying that you shouldn't even be able to sue them civilly .... It's an international disgrace.

Well, it may be a disgrace, but at least torture isn't continuing under the Obama administration, right?
In fact, many reporters have said that the Bagram prison facility in Afghanistan is worse than Guantanamo ever was. Moreover, abuse is apparently still occurring there.
As Spiegel wrote on September 21, 2009, in an article entitled "Prisoner Abuse Continues at Bagram Prison in Afghanistan":
US President Barack Obama has spoken out against CIA prisoner abuse and wants to close Guantanamo. But he tolerates the existence of Bagram military prison in Afghanistan, where more than 600 people are being held without charge. The facility makes Guantanamo look like a "nice hotel," in the words of one military prosecutor...

Bagram is "the forgotten second Guantanamo," says American military law expert Eugene Fidell, a professor at Yale Law School. "But apparently there is a continuing need for this sort of place even under the Obama administration.

"From the beginning, "Bagram was worse than Guantanamo," says New York-based attorney Tina Foster, who has argued several cases on behalf of detainee rights in US courts. "Bagram has always been a torture chamber."

And what does Obama say? Nothing. He never so much as mentions Bagram in any of his speeches. When discussing America's mistreatment of detainees, he only refers to Guantanamo.

Spiegel continues:

From the beginning, Bagram was notorious for the brutal forms of torture employed there. Former inmates report incidents of sleep deprivation, beatings and various forms of sexual humiliation [and rape with sticks]...
At least two men died during imprisonment. One of them, a 22-year-old taxi driver named Dilawar, was suspended by his hands from the ceiling for four days, during which US military personnel repeatedly beat his legs. Dilawar died on Dec. 10, 2002. In the autopsy report, a military doctor wrote that the tissue on his legs had basically been "pulpified." As it happens, his interrogators had already known -- and later testified -- that there was no evidence against Dilawar...
However attorney Tina Foster feels that the new initiative is just a cosmetic measure. "There is absolutely no difference between the Bush administration and the Obama administration's position with respect to Bagram detainees' rights," she says during an interview with SPIEGEL in her office in the New York borough of Queens.
And see this.
Moreover, Obama is still apparently allowing "rendition flights" - where prisoners are flown to countries which freely torture - to continue. This itself violates the Geneva Convention and the War Crimes Act of 1996.
Specifically, to the extent that the U.S. is sending prisoners to other countries for the express purpose of being tortured are true, violation of the war crimes act by the highest officials of our country would be probable. For who else but Obama, Gates and other top officials would have the ability to authorize such flights? How could such a program be undertaken without their knowledge? And how could such a program be anything but the intentional "ordering" of torture, or at least "knowing about it" and "failing to take steps to stop it"?
Finally, Jeremy Scahill - the reporter who broke most of the stories on Blackwater - says that some forms of torture at Guantanamo have continued under Obama, and may even have gotten worse. For example, Scahill points out that:

The Center for Constitutional Rights released a report titled "Conditions of Confinement at Guantánamo: Still In Violation of the Law," which found that abuses continued. In fact, one Guantanamo lawyer, Ahmed Ghappour, said that his clients were reporting "a ramping up in abuse" since Obama was elected.

As Marjorie Cohen - professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, past president of the National Lawyers Guild - writes at the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy:

Army Pfc. Bradley Manning, who is facing court-martial for leaking military reports and diplomatic cables to WikiLeaks, is being held in solitary confinement in Quantico brig in Virginia. Each night, he is forced to strip naked and sleep in a gown made of coarse material. He has been made to stand naked in the morning as other inmates walked by and looked. As journalist Lance Tapley documents in his chapter on torture in the supermax prisons in The United States and Torture, solitary confinement can lead to hallucinations and suicide; it is considered to be torture. Manning's forced nudity amounts to humiliating and degrading treatment, in violation of U.S. and international law.
Nevertheless, President Barack Obama defended Manning's treatment, saying, "I've actually asked the Pentagon whether or not the procedures . . . are appropriate. They assured me they are." Obama's deference is reminiscent of President George W. Bush, who asked "the most senior legal officers in the U.S. government" to review the interrogation techniques. "They assured me they did not constitute torture," Bush said.

After State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley criticized Manning's conditions of confinement, the White House forced him to resign. Crowley had said the restrictions were "ridiculous, counterproductive and stupid." It appears that Washington is more intent on sending a message to would-be whistleblowers than on upholding the laws that prohibit torture and abuse.

Torture is commonplace in countries strongly allied with the United States. Vice President Omar Suleiman, Egypt's intelligence chief, was the lynchpin for Egyptian torture when the CIA sent prisoners to Egypt in its extraordinary rendition program. A former CIA agent observed, "If you want a serious interrogation, you send a prisoner to Jordan. If you want them to be tortured, you send them to Syria. If you want someone to disappear - never to see them again - you send them to Egypt." In her chapter in The United States and Torture, New Yorker journalist Jane Mayer cites Egypt as the most common destination for suspects rendered by the United States.

Whether or not Obama is worse than Bush, he's just as bad.

While we had Bush's "heck of a job" response to Katrina, we had Obama's equally inept response and false assurances in connection with the Gulf oil spill, and Obama's false assurances in connection with the Japanese nuclear crisis.

And Bush and Obama's response to the financial crisis are virtually identical: bail out the giant banks, let Wall Street do whatever it wants, and forget the little guy.

The American voters asked for change. Instead, we got a different branch of the exact same Wall Street/military-industrial complex/Big Energy (BP, GE)/Big Pharma party.

My first reaction was to check the University of Tokyo’s HAARP induction magnetometer to see if HAARP was fired up around the time of the quake. Sure enough, following a week of electromagnetic silence, HAARP was turned on at approximately 0:00 hours 9 March, 2011 UTC and has been going strong since. Here is the data for the last 36 hours:

We see this same pattern before Indonesia and Haiti. I would posit that we're seeing nothing more than solar flares, but as sustained as these reading seem to be, that would be no ordinary flare. There is anecdotal evidence of geologists setting off earthquakes accidentally. This leads me, and at least one world leader, to believe that the US military has weaponized such technology and uses it at will.

Has Congress Lost Impeachment Powers?

Congress should think twice before forcing a government shutdown as the consequences could be the loss of the power of Congress to control spending through authorization and appropriation bills.

Congress permitted President George W. Bush to accumulate new powers in the executive, and these powers have passed to Obama. Bush succeeded in establishing that as a wartime commander-in-chief he had the “inherent power” to disobey the laws against torture, spying on Americans without obtaining warrants, and indefinite detention. In addition, Bush used signing statements in ways inconsistent with his oath and obligation to uphold the laws of the United States, and he took the U.S. to war based on lies, deception, and fabricated “evidence,” an offense that qualifies as treason.

With these precedents, it is a simple matter for President Obama to declare that, with the U.S. at war in a world of growing instability, he has the inherent power to ignore the debt limit and to continue financing the government with the creation of new money by the Federal Reserve.

Congress could try to protect its loss of the power of the purse by impeaching Obama. But how credible would it be to impeach a wartime president who is using the same “inherent power” of his office that Congress permitted the previous president to use?

The powers that Bush asserted not only violated statutory law, but also set aside constitutionally guaranteed rights that are the essence of American liberty. Yet, Congress made no attempt to restrain him with impeachment. How then does Congress impeach a president who is merely using his power to keep a government at war operating?

As President Bush’s acts were not deemed impeachable offenses, it seems likely that Congress has lost its power to impeach through default.

Tuscon Arizona, Jan 8th - A young man (this gen's Tim McVeigh, without as much help) is accused of bringing an extra-long clip with him to a Rally being help by Arizona's US representative Gabriel Giffords. She was shot, as well as about 20 others. Six died, including federal judge John Roll.

A couple of things immediately jumped out at me:

The MSM is building him up to be as monstrous as possible. One former classmate was misquoted and stories about how he mentioned "strapping bombs to babies" took hold. The actual account given by classmates was that this statement was in response to a poem, in poetry class, about abortion, and the bomb was to be strapped to the fetus. His thought pattern, according to the account as quoted in the NY Times was abortion is murder, terrorism is murder, abortion as terrorism. A stretch, yes, but derranged? Hardly.

Just heard this lovely story on my way home. It seems that while we were distracted by the new FCC powers over the 'net, WikiLeaks has began to call ~~out Pakistani public officials and military alike~~ for war in Pakistan.

The briefcase incident was seen as potentially so serious that the Justice Department conducted a criminal investigation. The inquiry ended in recent weeks with a decision by the department's internal security section not to prosecute, law enforcement officials said.

President Obama – as well as his mother, father, step-father and grandmother – all were connected to the Central Intelligence Agency – possibly explaining why the President praises the “Agency” and declines to prosecute its officials for their crimes.

According to a published report in the September Rock Creek Free Press of Washington, D.C., investigative reporter Wayne Madsen says Obama’s mother Ann Dunham worked “on behalf of a number of CIA front operations, including the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Ford Foundation.” The East-West Center had long been affiliated with CIA activities in the Asia-Pacific region, Madsen says.

What’s more, Obama’s father, Barack Obama Sr., arrived in Hawaii from Kenya as part of a CIA program to identify and train Africans who would be useful to the Agency in its Cold War operations against the Soviets, Madsen says. Obama Sr. divorced Ms. Dunham in 1964.

Ms. Dunham married Lolo Soetoro the following year, a man Madsen says assisted in the violent CIA coup against Indonesian President Sukarno that claimed a million lives. Obama’s mother taught English for USAID, “which was a major cover for CIA activities in Indonesia and throughout Southeast Asia,” Madsen reports. That USAID was a cover for CIA covert operations in Laos was admitted by its administrator Dr. John Hannah on Metromedia News. Madsen says the organization was also a cover for the CIA in Indonesia.

Ms. Dunham worked in Indonesia at a time when Midwest Universities Consortium for International Activities(MUCIA) – a group that included the University of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Minnesota and Indiana – was accused of being a front for CIA activities in Indonesia and elsewhere. Ms. Dunham traveled to Ghana, Nepal, Bangladesh, India and Thailand “working on micro-financing projects” for the CIA, Madsen reports.

And Ms. Dunham’s mother, Madelyn Dunham – who raised Obama while his mother was on assignment in Indonesia – acted as vice president of the Bank of Hawaii in Honolulu, which Madsen says was used by various CIA front entities. She handled escrow accounts used to make CIA payments “to U.S.-supported Asian dictators” including Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, South Vietnamese President Nguyen van Thieu, and President Suharto in Indonesia, Madsen says.

“In effect, the bank was engaged in money laundering for the CIA to prop up covertly its favored leaders in the Asia-Pacific region,” Madsen writes. “It is clear that Dunham Soetoro and her Indonesian husband, President Obama’s step-father, were closely involved in the CIA’s operations to steer Indonesia away from the Sino-Soviet orbit after the overthrow of Sukarno.”

“President Obama’s own work in 1983 for Business International Corporation, a CIA front that conducted seminars with the world’s most powerful leaders and used journalists as agents abroad, dovetails with CIA espionage activities conducted by his mother,” Madsen says. “There are volumes of written material on the CIA backgrounds of George H.W. Bush and CIA-related activities by his father and children, including former President George W. Bush. Barack Obama, on the other hand, cleverly masked his own CIA connections as well as those of his mother, father, step-father, and grandmother,” Madsen points out.

A review of the influence on the Oval Office by the CIA, particularly since the presidency of Bush Sr., a former director of the Agency, it becomes apparent the Agency has played a major role in the shaping of U.S. foreign policy – a role that has been largely kept secret from the American public and one which most Americans would not have approved. The CIA’s overthrow of the democratic government of Iran in 1953 is an example. The overthrow occurred after the Iranian government nationalized the oil industry following alleged cheating on payments by contractor British Petroleum, then known as Anglo-Iranian Oil Co. For another, the CIA’s widespread use of illegal rendition and torture of suspects is repugnant to Americans who still believe in their Constitution.

The War in Afghanistan: The legacy of Zbigniew Brzezinski and the Volatile Situation in Pakistan

CAN ERİMTAN* - In a previous piece on the war in the Hindu Kush, I indicated how the involvement of the Reagan administration shaped the Afghan opposition to the Soviet presence in the country.

But scrutinizing the information available, it turns out that American involvement in the Afghan jihad against the Soviets in fact predated the ascendancy of the conservatives in the White House. During the presidency of Jimmy Carter (1977-81), the role of the national security adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski, cannot be underestimated in this context. Brzezinski, as an American of Polish descent was then a rabid anti-Communist, and upon his appointment he immediately set up the Nationalities Working Group (NWG) dedicated to the idea of weakening the Soviet Union by inflaming ethnic tensions among subject Soviet peoples, primarily targeting the Islamic populations living under communism. He seems to have been particularly involved in the situation in Afghanistan, which wasn’t even part of the USSR. In an interview conducted by the well-known French journalist Vincent Jauvert, published in Le Nouvel Observateur (Jan. 15-21, 1998), Brzezinski made some astounding claims: “According to the official version of history, CIA aid to the mujahedeen began during 1980, that is to say, after the Soviet army invaded Afghanistan, Dec. 24, 1979. But the reality, secretly guarded until now, is completely otherwise. Indeed, it was July 3, 1979, that President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul and that very day I wrote a note to the president in which I explained to him that in my opinion this aid was going to induce a Soviet military intervention.” He then qualifies his hyperbole somewhat: “We [the US] didn’t push the Russians to intervene, but we knowingly increased the probability that they would.”

The Carter administration thus willingly seems to have supported the mujahedeen and their foreign allies -- the “Afghan Arabs” -- in a bid to precipitate the Soviets’ intervention and their ultimate demise. The notorious Charlie Wilson famously exclaimed at the time, “We had 58,000 dead in Vietnam, and we owe the Russians one.” Upon Jauvert’s query regarding the Islamic blowback and its effects on contemporary society, Jimmy Carter’s one-time national security adviser simply retorted: “What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some stirred-up Moslems or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the Cold War?” In his fervor to defeat the Soviets, President Carter’s national security adviser did not shy away from fanning the flames of Islamic fundamentalism.

Mixed relations with the conservative Reagan administration

Following his stint in the Carter administration, Brzezinski had mixed relations with the conservative Reagan administration. As a result, he has since pursued a more academic line. Currently, Brzezinski is a professor of foreign policy at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. As an academic, he has been quite prolific, and in the context of the war in Afghanistan and the much-vaunted TAPI project, his 1997 opus “The Grand Chessboard” is most revealing. The book reads like a blueprint for the execution of what we could call an “American Empire Project,” an expression used as the title of a book series published by Metropolitan Books. In his opus, Brzezinski put forward his contention that American world dominance is only feasible if Eurasia, “the center of world power,” is firmly in the grip of the US. He literally states that this area is “central to America’s capacity to exercise global primacy.” In the Eurasian landmass, Brzezinski insightfully foresaw that the “Central Asian region and the Caspian Sea basin” were to be of major importance in the 21st century, given their “reserves of natural gas and oil that dwarf those of Kuwait, the Gulf of Mexico or the North Sea.” Towards the end of the 20th century, Brzezinski suggested that the “oddly shaped Eurasian chessboard … provides the setting” for what he called “the game.” This game, so Brzezinski posited, is vital to “American hegemony” which manifests itself through “the exercise of decisive influence,” arguably leading to commercial benefits and monetary gains. Quite coincidentally, the great man was in İstanbul just a few days ago to attend the second Black Sea Energy and Economic Forum (Sept. 29-Oct. 1), an event organized by the Atlantic Council, and this time also supported by the Turkish Ministry of Finance and the Prime Ministry. Former US Ambassador to Turkey Ross Wilson hosted the event, and according to Today’s Zaman’s report, he explained that “the forum’s primary aim is to develop best policy solutions to help the region become a center for economic cooperation, investment and trade.” This is a position that seems to be a corollary to Brzezinski’s plan for American preponderance in the Eurasian theater.

In 2008, President Carter’s former national security adviser publicly endorsed the candidacy of Barack Obama. And he subsequently became an adviser to the Obama campaign. In December 2008, Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for the Obama presidential campaign, declared that “Brzezinski is not a day-to-day adviser for the campaign, he is someone whose guidance Sen. Obama seeks on” Iraq and foreign affairs. Already the previous year, then-candidate Obama’s reliance on Brzezinski’s thinking seemed apparent when he urged “to get off the wrong battlefield in Iraq and take the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan.” Brzezinski continued to play an advising role into President Obama’s first year in office.

‘New Great Game’

Brzezinski’s “game” can easily be equated with Ahmed Rashid’s “New Great Game.” And at the moment, the US is clearly pursuing this competition in Afghanistan by means of their sponsorship of the TAPI pipeline project. America’s rival here could be understood as China and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which includes Russia. A successful pipeline connecting Turkmenistan to India would deprive the Chinese and other SCO members of important gas imports. But the Middle Kingdom always plans for the long-term and had already secured the construction of the Turkmen-Kazakh-China pipeline in 2007 -- 7,000 kilometers of steel pipe at a staggering cost of $26 billion. In a way, one could say that the Chinese seem to have preempted America’s move by three years.

In spite of these strategic concerns hovering in the background, President Obama does not talk about any kind of “game” or about an economic motive in the pursuit of “American hegemony.” Instead he stresses the need to establish a stable Afghanistan in order to keep the US safe from terrorist plots, while simultaneously speaking of the virtues of a “just war.” During the speech he gave on the occasion of his acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize in December 2009, President Obama stated the following: “And over time, as codes of law sought to control violence within groups, so did philosophers and clerics and statesmen seek to regulate the destructive power of war. The concept of a ‘just war’ emerged, suggesting that war is justified only when certain conditions were met: if it is waged as a last resort or in self-defense, if the force used is proportional and if, whenever possible, civilians are spared from violence.” In view of the recent spike in drone attacks in the north of Pakistan, his words sound shrill to say the least. Since Sept. 25 the US has kept up a daily barrage of rockets fired by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that have supposedly killed numerous militants but also undoubtedly taken their toll on the civilian population. On Thursday, Sept. 30, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) even conducted a cross-border helicopter attack into Mandato Kandaou in the Ali Mangola area of Upper Kurram Agency of Pakistan, allegedly killing three Pakistani soldiers and injuring three others. In Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper, Hussain Afzal and Iftikhar A. Khan wrote that the Frontier Corps “retaliated with rifle fire to indicate that the helicopters were crossing into Pakistan’s territory. Instead of heeding the warning, the helicopters fired two missiles, destroying the post.” The government of Pakistan’s patience has now finally run out and authorities have closed down a key supply route for US-led forces in Afghanistan -- the Torkham route that furnished 80 percent of American needs, including all the fuel used in Afghanistan. On Iran’s English-language broadcaster Press TV, the eminent specialist Dilip Hiro remarked that the “only other place [the Americans] are getting something comes through from Uzbekistan and goes to [the southern Uzbek border city of] Termez. The supply comes through a rail road and goes to Bagram on the road. That is the only other inlet and this particular inlet cannot replace the 80 percent supply that comes from Pakistan.” In the past days the Pakistani Taliban (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan [TTP]) has carried out four attacks on NATO convoys in the country. Azam Tariq, a TTP spokesman, told a foreign wire service on Monday, Oct. 4, that the TTP “accept responsibility for the attacks on the NATO supply trucks and tankers.”

It seems that in aggressively pursuing the legacy of Brzezinski’s Afghanistan policy, President Obama’s reliance on drone attacks has now unleashed a volatile situation in Pakistan, a situation that could seriously backfire and badly hurt America’s interests in the region and further afield in the weeks and months to come.

Thomas Jefferson, in his infinite wisdom, warned us that "full faith and credit" in the hands of greedy bankers and corporate profiteers would bring us all down. After reading my friend Dillon Jones’ article about the failure of the conservatives to produce a Tea Party like movement during the spending frenzy of Bush 43’s presidency, I decided to expand on this idea in exposing the selective and hypocritical nature of mainstream conservatives’ proclaimed position as supporters of fiscal responsibility and limited government. I also intend to shine some light on the origin and subsequent infiltration of the movement known as the Tea Party.

The modern Tea Party was born out of the populist anger to the GOP led (and Dem. complacent) government maleficence, that occurred in the wake of 9/11. The patriot act, warrant-less wiretapping, preemptive wars, the clear usage of the 9/11 myth as a political weapon, and unanswered questions about 9/11 itself. These were the issues that brought about the 9/11 truth movement, which then resulted in the huge popularity of the Ron Paul presidential campaign. The common element people were/are protesting is that the government had carte blanche to sacrifice our liberties in return for "security".

The "original" Tea Party (not the original, original) was a 9/11 truth event. I remember seeing the promotion for this in 2006. The idea was then picked up by Ron Paul supporters (the majority being conscious of 9/11 truth) in 2007. I attended one on 12/16/07 (anniversary of the real event) in Austin. An estimated thousand people attended and there was a reenactment of the Boston tea party, with boxes labeled Iraq War, Iran War, NEOCONS, NATO, Patriot Act, GITMO, CIA, Homeland Security, National Debt, Federal Reserve, etc. thrown into the water. Notice that this is the antithesis of the philosophically bankrupt GOP establishment. The original tea party had a unanimous consensus condemning both parties. The tea party has been hijacked from the 9/11 truth/ Ron Paul/ Libertarian uprising by the very people it was protesting.

Although the current tea party still has legitimate concerns about out of control spending, skyrocketing debt, and the growing bureaucracy, these concerns ring hollow unless you strike at the root of the problem, i.e. the "Federal" "Reserve". The Federal Reserve is the mechanism by which the out of control spending and debt is allowed to continue. The original tea party understood this, even as late as April of 2009 (the last tea party I attended in San Marcos). After examining photos from the event, the content of the protest was over 90% about the Federal Reserve and bailouts. When we (college students) were joined later by older citizens donning American flag garb, the content seemed to steer away from specifically the federal reserve to taxation in general, income tax (it was tax day), the stimulus bill, debt, and the bailouts. People knowledgeable about the Fed will recognize that our current tax schemes, debt, and bailouts are all made possible via the Fed, (and a compliant congress, white house) yet these, what I'm assuming would self-identify as "conservatives", appeared ignorant of this fact. Keep in mind that Bush, McCain, Palin, and Glenn Beck all supported the Federal Reserve bailouts which costs are now estimated at being as high as $23.7 TRILLION. This fact alone makes the idea that Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, and the GOP are going to now spearhead a "fiscally conservative" movement laughable. Under the GOP the government bloated in size, doubled it’s debt, and spent $5 trillion on wars abroad and “homeland security” in six years. The insane costs of the “defense” and intelligence institutions is the elephant in the room when it comes to the GOP establishment movement towards fiscal conservatism. This is so glaringly obvious, yet the new self-proclaimed leaders of the tea party, especially Sarah Palin, say nothing of this.

Military/security spending is 63% of the total budget. The total for defense spending is between $880 billion and $1.03 trillion in fiscal year 2010. The non-military “national security” costs are at $520 billion. By the end of 2008, the U.S. had spent approximately $900 billion in direct costs on the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Indirect costs such as interest on the additional debt and incremental costs of caring for the more than 33,000 wounded borne by the Veterans Administration are additional. Some experts estimate these indirect costs will eventually exceed the direct costs. The classified "black budget" has increased to an estimated $50 billion. The Washington Post published a bomb shell series called “Top Secret America” which described “A hidden world, growing beyond control. The top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work.” Miami Herald writer Glen Garvin’s article “It’s Still Welfare” nailed it spot on when he wrote, “A most peculiar thing happened last week: The Washington Post ripped a federal welfare boondoggle to shreds, exposing tens of billions of dollars of waste, duplication and bureaucratic excess . . . and conservatives didn't erupt in astonishment and praise. In fact, they didn't raise a peep.
That's because the welfare queens ripping off taxpayer dollars in this case aren't poverty pimps waving the bloody flag of race and class, but military-industrial hustlers exploiting the war on terrorism to build themselves opulent and powerful fiefdoms.”

Let’s not forget the GOP championed, so called “War on Drugs”. As one SFL writer puts it “In short, the war on drugs is probably the most egregiously wrong, wasteful, and harmful policy of the United States over the last 40 years. By any standard - ethical, practical, historical, etc. - the drug war is a complete failure.” By the way, if this complete failure was ended, it could save American taxpayers $44 billion every year.

Does anyone else not see the insanity and hypocrisy in ignoring all of this while spewing rhetoric about excessive debt and spending?

Perhaps this is why on one hand the Army, Homeland Security, FBI, and Israeli Defense Forces are spying or training to engage on tea party protests, while on the other hand the GOP and Democratic establishment is infiltrating or demonizing the tea parties in an attempt to shift them into dimensions more friendly to the establishment and left/right paradigm. The topics no longer include the Fed, ending the wars, or abolishing the CIA. It's about neocons griping about spending and taxation that doesn't go to bombing broken back 3rd world countries, or setting up an Orwellian "national security" state here in America, while the ridiculous and discredited corporate media babbles about "racism". The Tea Party movement currently taking place however has not become completely controlled. I estimate that half of the tea party protesters are suspicious of the Republican hijacking and understand that the GOP is a part of the problem and not the solution.

A video of a 2009 Tea Party in Chicago illustrates perfectly how the liberal media has ignored the legitimate, non-partisan aspects of Tea Parties that still exist (in this case a sign reading “Republicans suck too - End the Fed). Of course the other side of the coin of the GOP take over was getting the controlled left to present just the half that was establishment GOP friendly. This worked as a recruitment technique for all the neocons the world over to act as useful idiots, hijacking an anti-establishment, grassroots movement, which I once personally saw, symbolically throw over the neocons themselves into the water. I can only hope that the Tea Party candidates that are set to oust the incumbents this November are truly and not just selectively fiscally responsible, and that they remember the message of the Tea Parties in 2006, 2007, and 1776.

First Amendment Violated on UT Campus

On Monday August 9, President Obama visited the University of Texas at Austin campus to speak about the state of the economy and education in the United States. Many defenders of liberty in the Austin area came out in droves to spread messages of peace, freedom, and prosperity.

The UT administration and the UTPD did not take too kindly to these demonstrators carrying signs with topics ranging from ending the Federal Reserve to ending wars- both those in the Middle East and the War on Drugs. Four people were arrested and charged with trespassing for protesting or collecting signatures outside of a designated “free speech zone”.

Luckily, Norman Horn of the Libertarian Longhorns was there and he managed to capture two of the four arrests on his video camera. One video is below, the other can be found here.

Of course the whole idea of a “free speech zone” is ridiculous. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution clearly states that “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble…”. By arresting these four people, the UTPD and the UT administration are in clear violation of the United States Constitution and our natural rights of life, liberty, and property that we liberty-minded people hold so dear.

FIRE successfully challenged the constitutionality of the “free speech zones” at the University of North Texas, which resulted in UNT changing its free speech policy.

Norman Horn, the Libertarian Longhorns, the people that were arrested, and the other concerned students and citizens who braved the Texas heat to spread the message of liberty deserve our highest praise and gratitude for helping defend liberty and the Constitution against the tyranny of an always growing government that seeks to regulate and control more and more of our lives everyday.

Obama's father Obama Sr., was blacklisted in Kenya, and died in a car crash.

One attendee at his funeral was a very prominent and beloved politician named Robert Ouko. He died in 1990, assassinated. A "single caucasian hair" was also was found "loosely associated with a partially burnt handkerchief found at the scene" [9]. Other items including a gun, a diesel can and matches [1] were found nearby. All apart were subsequently identified as belonging to Dr Ouko. News of the murder set off riots in Nairobi. Initially they tried to rule it suicide. This right after a trip to DC, in 1990. An entire Kenyan delegation gets no mention in Bush's official diary.

Coincidence, or conspiracy? Did they kill off the only Kenyans with paternal ties to Pres. Obama? Remember, Bush the Elder was CIA, his dad helped found Army Intelligence, he was succeeded by good buddy and fellow coke importer Clinton, who was succeeded by Bush's lackey son, and then Barack.

I posit that Bush the elder and his MilPlex associates have controlled who was in the White House for at least thirty years, and what we are seeing now has been the plan since at least the 1970s, when Barack's mom worked for CIA front groups USAID and the Ford Foundation. Indonesia's economy was sustained throughout the 1970's, almost exclusively by oil export.

There is a shadow war, one for the earth's precious resources and global power. It is a web so tangled and clandestine that it will take historians decades to unravel fully. Until then, let's keep asking questions.

Trial of the Century Begins at 9 am

With thousands of spectators expecting to attend, Dr. James Manning's 'trial of the century' of Barack Obama on charges of treason, fraud, and sedition begins tomorrow morning at 9 AM in New York City.

Co-defendants in the trial are Columbia University and the CIA.

In the last days of the run-up to the trial, Manning revealed that he has sources in government that will testify against Obama, Columbia, and the CIA. He also reported explosive information that Barack Obama has used upwards of 20 different Social Security numbers during his life.

Witnesses are expected to testify at the trial that Barack Obama was never a student at Columbia University, although he received a degree from the school. Dr. Manning claims that Columbia, therefore, is an accomplice to fraud.

Ron Paul: Obama is Not a Socialist

An article in the Wall Street Journal quotes Ron Paul as stating the now obvious "he is not a socialist...he's a corporatist....[he] takes care of corporations and corporations take over and run the country."

Further:

When he is a called a socialist, the President and his defenders can easily deflect that charge by pointing out that the historical meaning of socialism is government ownership of industry; under the President's policies, industry remains in nominally private hands. Using the more accurate term — corporatism — forces the President to defend his policies that increase government control of private industries and expand de facto subsidies to big businesses. This also promotes the understanding that though the current system may not be pure socialism, neither is it free-market since government controls the private sector through taxes, regulations, and subsidies, and has done so for decades.
Using precise terms can prevent future statists from successfully blaming the inevitable failure of their programs on the remnants of the free market that are still allowed to exist. We must not allow the disastrous results of corporatism to be ascribed incorrectly to free market capitalism or used as a justification for more government expansion. Most importantly, we must learn what freedom really is and educate others on how infringements on our economic liberties caused our economic woes in the first place. Government is the problem; it cannot be the solution.

One could however argue that subsidies for the poor in his health care plan offer some elements of 'socialism,' but the general tone and direction of his policies seems to be extremely ingratiating towards corporate interests, and always ceding great compromises in their direction. Sensible arguments and discussions seem not to be fitting for the American debate however, where it seems there are still masses of people just looking to find a commie pinko to hate.

In an astounding 'coincidence' the guns used by both John Patrick Bedell and Johnny Lee Wicks not only were both bought in Las Vegas, but they both came from the same Memphis police evidence vault according to a recent AP article. Apparently it is customary for the Memphis police to sometimes sell confiscated weapons.

Joseph Andrew Stack and Johnny Lee Wicks have something else in common, they both burned down their houses before attacking governmental offices. Stack allegedly attacked the Echelon One building in Austin with his airplane enraged over the IRS, and Wicks opened fire at the Las Vegas Federal Courthouse supposedly enraged over losing Social Security benefits.

And finally several coincidences connect both Bedell and Stack. Not only were they both electrical, computer engineering specialists pursuing technical work in defense related projects, but they also both were from the same San Francisco area and also both lived for some time in Austin, TX.

Thoughts on yesterdays shootings in DC and some articles. I'm a little dumbfounded - what did he think he was going to do? Cop assisted suicide is all this seems like to me.

My mother used the same phrase "off the deep end" in the subtitle of the WaPo article to summarily dismiss the very real idea of a so called coup regime. How many times it will be repeated for that purpose now is anyone's guess. Skip that thought.

Instead, think about what it means to be an American. It means you're a resident of one of fifty states, each with its own congress, capable of self determination. It does not mean relax while the financial syndicates manipulate the world's economy. It may be in "our" favor for now, but justice will be served. Better sooner and by us. What does that mean?

It means recording the injustices and petitioning, peacefully, the governments and fellow citizens for redress. Both governments should be targeted, the people's and the bankers' (State and Federal). It does not mean killing innocents, even if they work for the Pentagon or IRS; even the act will draw what you or a group deem much needed attention to that petition.

There are stunts besides those involving bombs, guns and planes after all. My advice: Target the government for redress while calling attention to your petition. How? Run for office! The bigger the better. Mayor of Austin, or better yet, San Marcos. Too many people in the field? Heavy-hitters hogging the spotlight? Do something scandalous! Just don't get caught up in the BS & forget to say your piece!

However in this interview Medina is led in objectionable fashion to disavow the 9/11 Truth movement. Mark Davis was not playing fair.

Don't buy into this attack, it was clearly prong two, designed to be heard by limited conservative audience on-air and by the truth community online. A prudent Medina would have realized this, but decided to let herself be led like a lamb to slaughter.

Her answers were quick, single-word responses, which must have been bitter pills. These she swallowed in hopes of curing what ails her in the polls, an overblown assault on her character.

She didn't parrot the official line, or offer any concessions except to agree curtly with the host, who undoubtedly had buttered her up before the show. I'm still voting Medina. Good Republicans will.

It's not hard, in fact it's less of a drape over the eyes and more of a slap to the face. Re-branding the Tea parties as the TEA Party is a joke and the 9/12 campaign proves it. Remember Riad Hamad, the Palestinian man who’s "suicide" left him at the bottom of Lady Bird Lake in Austin with his mouth gagged and arms duct-taped behind his back? (Kurt Nimmo, Did Palestinian Activist Riad Hamad Commit Suicide? )

According to reports, he was observed at meetings with now-outed FBI informant/provocateur Brandon Darby, who admittedly set up two anarchist/leftists from Austin with "molotov cocktails" who were subsequently arrested for alleged plans to attack police cars outside the RNC 2008 in Minnesota in connection with the "RNC Welcoming Committee."

Since Darby’s exposure as an admitted FBI informant, flyers have been seen in coffeehouses across Austin reading “Wanted: Brandon Darby An Informant Rat Loose in Austin.”

WHAT’S MORE– Scott Crow, anarchist/leftist who formed the Hurricane Katrina relief group "Common Ground Collective" has made a number of interesting connections with fellow member Brandon Darby, whose role in Common Ground may have coincided with his FBI/Police Informant role, which may have begun in 2004, 2005 or 2006.

Scott Crow claims that in 2006, after Brandon Darby was admittedly an FBI informant, Darby attempted to recruit Crow on a plot to "firebomb" Brave New Books of Austin, Texas. Crow writes:

In Darby’s ‘revolutionary rhetoric’ over the years he tried to get numerous people, including myself, to do the things the two men were eventually taken down for. I believe now he tried to set me up in 2006 (after he, according to FBI documents began informing and provoking) to firebomb a bookstore called Brave New Books in Austin. I was NOT interested at all and thought it was stupid. I tried to talk him out of it. The event never happened. He was allowed to change his mind and move on. What if the Feds had raided him at the time?

This astonishing information was brought to my attention by Harlan of Brave New Books, but the connection to Riad Hamad I found only afterwards in Crow’s posts. Harlan writes:

The vitriol that seems to chase Darby to this day is due to the fact that two young activists David McKay and Bradley Crowder have been sentenced to a combined six years in prison for possessing several Molotov cocktails that were to be used during demonstrations at the 2008 Republican National Convention and were convicted in large part through the testimony of Brandon Darby. The possession of the cocktails is not in question, but what seems peculiar is why Darby an older, seasoned activist would agree to take part in a plan to firebomb a flock of police cars at the RNC, according to the FBI, and not just persuade the younger protégés to avoid instigating violent action? According to the defendants, Darby had encouraged the violence and had provoked the younger activists to take this direction, an allegation Darby denies. Darby admits that he was asked by the bureau to be the “eyes and ears" to monitor the small, loose-knit group of activists that included McKay.

Crow initially defended Darby against allegations that he was reporting to the FBI , warning against ‘divisive rumors’ and COINTELPRO, even after claims had spread that he was an FBI informant. After Darby publicly admitted his role as an informant, Crow expressed regret for his support in a post titled "Eating Crow", and the later expressed several suggestive claims about the extent of Brandon Darby’s political provocateuring in the Austin political scene, as posted on the PM Press.

Darby has appeared on ‘This American Life’/ NPR and in papers like the Austin Chronicle to talk about his background as an activist and his account of how he became an FBI informant through a New Orleans cop– once opposed to his groups’ actions until he was swayed by community relief efforts he witnessed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Or so the story goes…

Crow claims that Darby began contacting the FBI earlier, however, when he traveled to New Orleans in 2004 (prior to Hurricane Katrina) to "see what [the FBI] had on him" in their files. Clearly, in light of certain revelations, this may demonstrate a much longer-lasting relationship inside the FBI.

Brandon Darby has some wild claims, as stated in ‘This American Life,’ that he traveled to Venezuela to convince Chavez to fund their Hurricane Katrina relief effort. While there, he says he was referred to a meeting with the FARC rebels who tried to recruit him to start a revolutionary group ‘in the swamps of Louisiana.’ Darby says he turned them down.

FBI Informant Brandon Darby claims he went undercover to stop Riad Hamad from ‘recruiting people for ‘terroristic’ like activities. Could Darby have been really entrapping Hamad? Why was Hamad found dead, gagged and duct-taped at the bottom of a lake?

Shortly afterwards, while back in Austin, he admits to having reported to the FBI what he claims was a Palestinian man trying to recruit him for a bombing. This may have been connected to Riad Hamad. Crow mentions the NPR stories’ account of the interaction with Riad Hamad:

In the ['This American Life']/NPR story, they mention Darby going undercover to stop a Palestinian peace activist named Riad Hammad [sic] from recruiting people for potentially ‘terroristic’ like activities. They don’t mention that Riad was found dead at the bottom of a river here in Austin under very unusual circumstances which the Feds ruled a suicide, but looked like was done to him. And that there is NO public evidence that anything that Darby is saying is true. I don’t know myself, but Riad cannot defend himself against the accusations.

Scott Crow claims that Brandon Darby introduced him to Riad Hamad and other Palestinians at Green Muse Cafe coffee shop in Austin, telling him that "these were real revolutionaries" and not just "anarchists."

This inciting rhetoric, which Crow believes was another attempt to provocateur him into revolutionary action/violence was very similar to supposed accounts of Darby’s goading the "Texas 2" prior to the RNC 2008 that they were ‘weakling vegetarians’ and ‘couldn’t handle potentially violent revolutionary acts at the RNC.’ McKay claims Darby further goaded them to find out if they would take ‘revolutionary’ action or not. When he apparently agreed, it led to the bust. Crow writes:

They also don’t mention that when I went to meet Darby at the Green Mews [sic] coffee shop in Austin during this time he was often with Riad and some men he described in excited tones as ‘real revolutionaries’ not activists. He could not wait to tell me, as if I would be impressed. I told him, as always that he needed to watch out for people he didn’t know, but what I didn’t know was working for the Feds. Silly me. So he is bragging about this in a public place, did he entrap Riad for the Feds like Brad and David? I have no idea, but I know that Riad is dead either because he took his own life because he thought someone was after him, or someone else took his life, because they figured there was an informer in their midst. Either of those scenarios are completely sad and scary, and not the world I want to create or be a part of.

Crow points out that Darby’s accounts of when he first contacted the FBI do not add up:

On at least THREE different and unrelated times Darby has stated that it was the FIRST time or reason he contact the FBI. The first was in 2004 when he, according to what he told me and my partner, went to visit the New Orleans office of the FBI to see what they had on him. It sounded SOOOO paranoid. He explained the story in great detail about his visit. The second time was in recent interviews where he has stated he saw that Brad and David were going to do something ‘harmful’ at the RNC in Minneapolis and he had to intervene. And now he is saying that he had to visit the Feds when he saw that Riad Hammad [sic], his friend, was not in fact a school teacher in Austin, but was involved in some other ‘nefarious’ activities. So which is the truth? I know he met commander Bryson of NOPD in Oct/ or Nov. of 2005. He has stated in interviews that Bryson is the one who introduced him to the Feds. Did he begin his work to spy on Common Ground and all of us then? Where is the real Darby?

Crow says that while he knew Brandon Darby for more than six years inside the Austin activist community, his actions were consistently violence-oriented, and with grandstanding, in opposition to the views held by most of the other anarchist members.

For years he advocated ‘blowing things up’ and later using arson. I don’t know if he did, but he sure did try to get other to do it. So was it revolutionary zeal or agent provocateur sh*t straight out of the manual?

Crow states that Darby seemed to merely adopt the rhetoric of various activist groups while differing from their common behaviors (most of the activists were vegan, yet he ate meat; was in favor of dictation over consensus, and ’slept with a lot of women’ and acted in a macho or chauvinistic manner). Crow wrote:

Darby was NOT an anarchist. He actually never claimed to be for the longest time. He disagreed with horizontal organizing and many of the underpinnings of anarchism. He DID however absorb the language, when necessary for interviews or speaking in public. He NEVER absorbed the practice during the 6 years I have known him. He actually was more of a quasi ‘central-democratic’ Marxist. He thought anarchist wasted time, energy and resources. Myself and few excluded of course . He would blurt in the same breath. He aligned himself with what he thought the Black Panther Party central committee would do–whether it was true or not. He didn’t have a liberation or even an anti-oppression analysis, but enough information to get by
within radical circles.

He was the only ”’anarchist”’ I have ever known that wanted to ‘overthrow the government’. I debated and argued with him about the impossibilities and reasons why that was a bad idea on so many levels, but he took that message many places to the chagrin and dismay of many radical circles.

Harlan at Brave New Books writes:

Why was Darby choosing a bookstore as a target for a direct action? Was his plan a way to ensnare fellow activists in a plot that would eventually be foiled by the heroic FBI? Or was this plan another classic government provocateur attempting to firebomb an actual threat to the FBI and the state, wielding his useful idiots as his accomplices all the while knowing he would be provided the full protection of the FBI? The latter seems justifiably more accurate given the history of the FBI and its long train of abuses using agent provocateurs to carry out its dirty work. One need not look any further than the FBI’s clear infiltration of Elohim City using Timothy McVeigh as their asset. One could also look at the semi-retarded young religious men in Florida that were drafted by the U.S. government through the work of a joint terrorism task force agent who had infiltrated their group and persuaded them to express that they would be willing to help the terrorism task force blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago. Also, one should never forget that the FBI helped train an informant and provided materials to the informant that were used in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. The bombing was allowed to occur with full knowledge of its planning by the FBI. There are loads of other examples that support the notion that the FBI routinely uses agent provocateurs in an effort to undermine its political enemies and swell its rank and budget.

In regrards to Brandon Darby, it is interesting to note that he was committed to seeing the Molotov cocktail bombing through at the RNC. According to the radio show This American Life, that featured Darby and people who knew him, Darby was willing to go ahead with the plan to bomb the police cars with David McKay in the early morning hours but the younger McKay never materialized and the plot was called off. This doesn’t describe the behavior of an innocent observer and sounds more like the actions of an active participant willing to commit an act of terrorism and then scapegoat a pair of useful idiots. So would Darby’s same zeal for terrorism had occurred if there would have been someone that would have been willing to help in Darby’s plan to attack the bookstore? Luckily, we will never know because he was never able to execute his plans

Here's what Lloyd Doggett said about it at St. Mark's in San Marcos: "There are only two or three companies in every market and so this will provide competition by, erm, federal competition."

I asked Lloyd Dogget afterward "Why not just ammend the McCarran-Ferguson Act of 1954." He said this bill did. I just searched the document. No mention of McCarran-Ferguson. Subtitle D — Additional Consumer Protections it lists a bunch of things that don't have anything to do with interstate policy purchasing provisions.

Sec. 101 is illuminatingly full of doublespeak, an ominous definition of "enrollment" which says if uninsured this is your option once implemented, and in another section you must have it within a year, and another about penalty wavier later which allows two years. 2.5 percent of income is correct and an additional surcharge for large incomes.

Private providers must participate in some government regulated exchange which fixes the prices, but that's okay, the same people govern how much they are allowed hike up the rates and will surely be fair to them. It's any company trying to give coverage to the small businesses and groups with less than a few billion dollar market capitalization that I worry about.

So with regard to Mr. Doggett's statement regarding McCarran-Fergusson I suppose he meant this just supercedes all other legislation inherently. Or he lied to my face, that sack of you-know-what.

Here's something that should tick off the uncalloused, hidden in a little article about how KBR put 100K soldiers at risk and wasted waste they had already wasted on our dime; probably while falsifying reports about said disposal practices.

The damning bit of the article for me was that even the prosecution has subtly watered down its dialogue - stating on the sixth count and seventy-second complaint that "72. Defendants demonstrated either a deliberate intent to harm Plaintiffs, or an utter indifference to and conscious disregard for the welfare of Plaintiffs."

Isn't this the meat of it? I mean, sure, legalese and all, but isn't "concious disregard for" a lot worse than "utter indifference to"?

P: "They were utterly indifferent and consciously disregarded troop welfare"
D: "I'll agree with the first part and use that to cover my ass on the second."

Just an illustration. Otherwise I think about this every day. Scarcity. Ha, I tried asking the science professors "What about free energy?" and I think they got a little misty at my idealism and then went back to their moon rainbows, data mining and who knows what useful stuff. To a panel of poli-sci (my major) PhDs "Didn't anyone smell a rat immediately when reports surfaced that 'Russia attacked Georgia' after the installation of a pro-western leader in a color revolution, or at least while studying the Ossetia/Abkazia conflict and learning of the US Marines who came and went after running drills during the weeks prior?"

Mind you this was a panel discussion on that very topic. Instead of dumbfounded silence they went from right to left "I didn't smell a rat" and it was very telling because they all parroted each other.

I'm sick of this. This school, this country (just anyone with influence), this world with its indulgence of make believe laws, wars, freedoms and scarcities. There is abundance, look around. It's in what we can't see too. Feel it.

In an April 7 article in The London Telegraph titled “The G20 Moves the World a Step Closer to

a Global Currency,” Ambrose Evans-Pritchard wrote:

“A single clause in Point 19 of the communiqué issued by the G20 leaders amounts to revolution in the global financial order.

“‘We have agreed to support a general SDR allocation which will inject $250bn (£170bn) into the world economy and increase global liquidity,’ it said. SDRs are Special Drawing Rights, a synthetic paper currency issued by the International Monetary Fund that has lain dormant for half a century.

“In effect, the G20 leaders have activated the IMF’s power to create money and begin global ‘quantitative easing’. In doing so, they are putting a de facto world currency into play. It is outside the control of any sovereign body. Conspiracy theorists will love it.”

Indeed they will. The article is subtitled, “The world is a step closer to a global currency, backed by a global central bank, running monetary policy for all humanity.” Which naturally raises the question, who or what will serve as this global central bank, cloaked with the power to issue the global currency and police monetary policy for all humanity? When the world’s central bankers met in Washington last September, they discussed what body might be in a position to serve in that awesome and fearful role. A former governor of the Bank of England stated:

“[T]he answer might already be staring us in the face, in the form of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). . . . The IMF tends to couch its warnings about economic problems in very diplomatic language, but the BIS is more independent and much better placed to deal with this if it is given the power to do so.”1

And if the vision of a global currency outside government control does not set off conspiracy theorists, putting the BIS in charge of it surely will. The BIS has been scandal-ridden ever since it was branded with pro-Nazi leanings in the 1930s. Founded in Basel, Switzerland, in 1930, the BIS has been called “the most exclusive, secretive, and powerful supranational club in the world.” Charles Higham wrote in his book Trading with the Enemy that by the late 1930s, the BIS had assumed an openly pro-Nazi bias, a theme that was expanded on in a BBC Timewatch film titled “Banking with Hitler” broadcast in 1998.2 In 1944, the American government backed a resolution at the Bretton-Woods Conference calling for the liquidation of the BIS, following Czech accusations that it was laundering gold stolen by the Nazis from occupied Europe; but the central bankers succeeded in quietly snuffing out the American resolution.3

In Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time (1966), Dr. Carroll Quigley revealed the key role played in global finance by the BIS behind the scenes. Dr. Quigley was Professor of History at Georgetown University, where he was President Bill Clinton’s mentor. He was also an insider, groomed by the powerful clique he called “the international bankers.” His credibility is heightened by the fact that he actually espoused their goals. He wrote:

“I know of the operations of this network because I have studied it for twenty years and was permitted for two years, in the early 1960's, to examine its papers and secret records. I have no aversion to it or to most of its aims and have, for much of my life, been close to it and to many of its instruments. . . . [I]n general my chief difference of opinion is that it wishes to remain unknown, and I believe its role in history is significant enough to be known.”

Quigley wrote of this international banking network:

“[T]he powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world’s central banks which were themselves private corporations.”

The key to their success, said Quigley, was that the international bankers would control and manipulate the money system of a nation while letting it appear to be controlled by the government. The statement echoed one made in the eighteenth century by the patriarch of what would become the most powerful banking dynasty in the world. Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild famously said in 1791:

“Allow me to issue and control a nation’s currency, and I care not who makes its laws.”

Obama's Mysterious Birth - The Question of the Certificate Number

Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo said the blackened portion

is a department file number that was redacted to prevent hackers from

breaking into the Health Department's system." (emphasis added)

And this from factcheck.org :

"We asked the Obama campaign about the date stamp and the blacked-out certificate number. The certificate is stamped June 2007, because that's when Hawaii officials produced it for the campaign, which requested that document and "all the records we could get our hands on" according to spokesperson Shauna Daly. The campaign didn't release its copy until 2008, after speculation began to appear on the Internet questioning Obama's citizenship. The campaign then rushed to release the document, and the rush is responsible for the blacked-out certificate number. Says Shauna: "[We] couldn't get someone on the phone in Hawaii to tell us whether the number represented some secret information, and we erred on the side of blacking it out. Since then we've found out it's pretty irrelevant for the outside world." The document we looked at did have a certificate number; it is 151 1961 - 010641." (Emphasis added)

Which is it? Did the Hawaii Health Department redact the number, or a member of Obama's campaign? Is it sensitive, as according to the Advertiser, or irrelevant as according to Obama's campaign? If Hawaiian officials say it's important, why has factcheck published them? If it's not, why would the Dept. of Health say so to begin with? Does anyone else smell a rat?

It seems to me that we the people are not getting the whole story. Since truth does not fear investigation, why not have a definitive one once and for all?
